Moto Guzzi has applied for new US trademark rights over the Stornello name after its previous trademark expired in 2023.
The last Stornello was a limited 2016 edition V7 model paying tribute to the 1960s Stornello 125 Scrambler.
One option is reviving Stornello as a new scrambler variant of Guzzi's modern V7 lineup, following the formula of the previous edition.
Alternatively, Guzzi could use the adventure-capable V85 TT as a base to create a retro-styled Stornello scrambler to rival Triumph's Scrambler 900.
Spy shots revealed Piaggio testing a small parallel-twin prototype that could become an entry-level Guzzi model.
"Stornello" translates to "starling," reflecting the bike's small capacity and lightweight when it debuted in the early 1960s as a road model.
Reviving the historic Stornello name allows Moto Guzzi to capitalize on its heritage while launching a modern motorcycle catering to current market trends.
